The Business

28 04 2009

Well today I got laid off. The economy isn’t what it used to be and well that means cut back, right? Well for Lapressco it means yes. I worked the whole day (given that I only worked a little over an hour yesterday) and as I went to clock out, I saw a note asking my to go see my boss before I left. I was uneasy, fearing this might happen and it did. I cleaned out my office and left. The company I worked for before is almost closed and this one is starting the layoffs. This industry can be brutal and it’s an elective service that people will cut back in their own businesses. A few positive points – I can finally clean the house and keep it clean (office included), blog more, focus on possibly starting my own freelance company, sleep late, spend time with my husband when he’s off (he doesn’t have weekends off), exercise more, learn to be more frugal… The negatives include less money, i just bought a new car with a $330 a month car note, less money… Ok well Jeremy and I rely on both paychecks to get through the month. It’ll be interesting to see if we can do it. I’d like to be able to live on one paycheck and this a chance to work on that. I just want to say sorry to my friends because unless we’re hanging at someone’s house I won’t be there with ya. I’m going to make the best of this some how. If anyone knows of a design job opening in Shreveport let me know.
